The Federal Reserve Board (the Board) is responsible for implementing many laws to protect consumers in credit and other financial transactions and to ensure that consumers receive comprehensive information and fair treatment. In today’s complex financial marketplace, financial education is central to helping consumers make better decisions for themselves and their families. The Board’s financial education activities fall into five primary categories: (1) increasing access to information about financial products and services, (2) promoting awareness of the importance of financial literacy, (3) collaborating with educational and community organizations, (4) supporting research and identifying best practices, and (5) providing financial education for its own employees. The Board maintains a consumer information web site at www.federalreserve.gov/consumers.htm. The Federal Reserve System also has an educational web portal that features a special section on personal finance
