Plan Your Reserve Fund

Smart Move
A reserve fund can give your family the peace of mind that allows you to stay focused on your mission.

An upcoming deployment or call to active duty changes your life substantially. For active military, paying bills and providing for your family’s financial needs are the main financial concerns. Reserve and Guard members face these issues, as well as those related to their civilian jobs and health-care insurance. However, these may not be the only concerns. Spend some time thinking about your situation. What expenses could you or your family encounter?

One way to be ready for these changes is to have a “reserve” savings fund. A reserve fund can give your family the peace of mind that allows you to stay focused on your mission. The Reserve Fund Worksheet will help you determine how much money you should set aside in case you are deployed or called to active duty.

After reviewing the total amount you should have in your reserve fund, you may feel overwhelmed. Don’t let the amount scare you. You can begin to build your reserve fund by taking one step at a time. The first step is reading “Be a Smart Saver”.
