The Creator of SaveAndInvest.org Has a New Name:
Introducing the FINRA Investor Education Foundation
Nearly 18 months ago, the NASD Investor Education Foundation launched a multi-faceted Military Financial Education Campaign to help military servicemembers and their families around the globe manage their money with confidence. SaveAndInvest.org is a key component of this effort, providing unbiased, non-commercial tools and information to the military community free of charge.
On July 30, 2007, the Foundation’s parent, NASD, announced that it commenced operations as the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA), the self-regulatory organization formed by the consolidation of NASD and NYSE Member Regulation. As a result, the NASD Foundation now has a new name: the FINRA Investor Education Foundation. You can find information about the consolidation in the press release.
The FINRA Foundation will continue to fund the Military Financial Education Campaign and SaveAndInvest.org—your source for unbiased investing resources and straight-talking financial information. While we have a new name, our commitment to investor protection and market integrity remains the same. We invite you and your friends, families, and colleagues to take advantage of all that SaveAndInvest.org offers, including:
- Deployment and PCS Resources — to help military families financially prepare for moves or deployments;
- Plan for Retirement — which explains the basics of saving for retirement, including descriptions of plans available to military servicemembers and tools to calculate how much you need to save today to reach your retirement goals; and
- Managing Your Credit — which provides tips and tools on establishing and maintaining a good credit history.
More About FINRA and the Foundation
FINRA will serve as the largest non-governmental regulator for all securities firms doing business with the public in the U.S. FINRA will touch virtually every aspect of the securities business—from registering and educating all industry participants to examining securities firms; writing rules; enforcing rules and the federal securities laws; informing and educating the investing public; providing trade reporting and other industry utilities; and administering the largest dispute resolution forum for investors and registered firms. For more information, visit FINRA's Web site at www.finra.org.
The FINRA Foundation is the largest foundation in the U.S. dedicated to investor education. Its mission is to provide investors with high-quality, easily accessible information and tools to better understand the markets and the basic principles of saving and investing. To further this mission, the Foundation awards grants to fund educational programs and research aimed at segments of the investing public who could benefit from additional resources.
